Chrome plated plastic
I'd rather have chrome plated steel so I would know it can take a hit if needed and still be useful. I would gladly pay more for that, but that's not available. It is still a good product for the price and the LEDs are visible from a good distance when marker lights should be used (dusk until dawn). The gasket is also useless if you're mounting to outside sheet metal except for not scratching the surface you're mounting to. It's a good thing the internals are well encapsulated, though I suspect there may be seepage over time at the points the wires go through. Since I have not seen any evidence of that yet, I'll only knock one star for the chrome plated plastic.
Beware, all plastic.
I was excited when I got these lights until I found out the chrome bezels are plastic. On my trailer, they won't last too long due to the debris kicked up by the pickup destroying them in short order. If they were metal housings, they would withstand the impacts of small stones and dirt for years, but I'm not sure how long they will last being plastic.
